OPEN DIARIES - international
An ambitious series of films shot over three weeks in mid 2019 designed to showcase the international reach of The Open University. Working with a very tight production team we told the story of five students from very diverse backgrounds across the globe. From Berlin to Budapest, via Johannesburg and Palakkad to Manila I wanted to tell an authentic story of the University That Never Sleeps.

episode 1 - discover your potential
We followed Rain from her family home in Manila as she talked about how The Open University unlocked study for her, ultimately helping her cope with her own mental health struggles. Studying psychology, Rain is focused on becoming a psychiatrist and helping others with similar issues in her region.
episode 2 - take your studies with you
Colm proves that study and travel are not mutually exclusive with The Open University. Currently living and working in Hungary, but born in Ireland, he has taken his degree with him across Europe, never compromising on making study work for him.
episode 3 - invest in your future
Despite graduating from The Open University some years ago, Tillmann is one their most vocal advocates. Studying enabled him to pursue a totally different career path and work with one of the largest pharmaceutical companies on the planet.

Talia was one of our most enthusiastic OU ambassadors. Passionate about environmental science, our Johannesburg local studies around her life with The Open University. From teaching kids to swim, to enjoying a very full social life she personified the freedom studying with the OU gives their students.

Controlling a radio telescope in Tenerife from a bedroom in rural India personifies the innovative learning of The Open University. In Kerala we follow Sridev as he balances family life, a job and mapping the cosmos on his planetary science degree.
